I was very pleased that I managed to squeeze three holidays and two mini breaks into the school holidays! Quite an achievement even for a holiday addict like me!
We were lucky enough to go to the most amazing treehouse in north Wales. We were surrounded by trees (obviously) and it all felt very Swiss Family Robinson, with the exception of a jolly nice pub within walking distance!
We did lots of 'back to nature' activities and my daughter and I made a den which we were very proud of.
We also had two trips to the family favourite of Hunstanton and a couple of weeks in Zante, where we were lucky enough to see a number of turtles, go snorkelling and swim in caves - bliss!
So the question is - has this aided my writing? Not exactly, but I have been plotting book two the whole time and scribbling down the odd idea. More importantly I have ended the summer feeling refreshed and excited about my new project.
The down side is that I am now back at work (the proper job pays the bills) but I have lots of lovely memories and renewed enthusiasm for making the non-work days really count from a writing perspective.
